Press Releases News About Globe Life Field

- Farewell #GLP -

Farewell, Globe Life Park. March 28th will mark the beginning of the end of an era for the Texas Rangers, as they kick off their final season at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.

Globe Life Park will officially close its doors at the end of this season, after which the Texas Rangers will prepare to settle into their new home across the street. Their new home will be Globe Life Field.

To anyone wondering where the name comes from, Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company has prolonged its contract with the Texas Rangers, and obtained the naming rights to this new $1 billion ballpark to last over the next 25 years. The contract with the Rangers will last through the year 2048. That means there’s more than 25 years of history to be made, right here, deep in the heart of Texas.

According to Sports Business Daily, it’s reported that this is the second-largest naming rights agreement in Major League Baseball history, coming just behind Citi Field in New York.

Not only does this historic deal come with a different name, the stadium will boast exciting, new and innovative technology as well. With its opening date set to March of 2020, Globe Life Field will feature a retractable roof, state-of-the-art facilities, and a classic, climate-controlled design. Now fans can get ready to kiss those heat-drenched games goodbye, and prepare for a comfortable experience next summer.

Not only will it be the new home of Texas Rangers, it will host other events such as collegiate sports, concerts, festivals, and other professional sporting events.

If you’re currently a Texas Rangers season ticket holder, it’s important to know you’ll have priority access to seating location at Globe Life Field. If you’re not currently a season ticket holder, you can place a deposit to secure your spot today.
